Its now official. As of this week, Spyker has now been given the green light to purchase Saab from General Motors (US).
Spyker, a Dutch company known for some of its radical/amazing designs for high performance sports cars. With no doubt, Spyker will be good for Saab. It gets them away from GM and it also brings the boutique back into Saab. Saab has always been a smallish, iconic, and free spirited company. Their designs have always been… well, I don’t want to say boring, but I’ll say; RETRO? yes! Retro… Spyker should give Saab vehicles a splash of style for the modern world market. And I can’t wait to see what becomes of this relationship.
Saab has settled on the lines of cars they will focus on and hopes to get back up to 120,000 cars per year. One of the vehicles they may or may not produce is the 9-1. It is based on a concept car that makes even my mouth water. To be frank, I’m leaning on getting a small car (even as an American; I know!). I’m actually thinking about picking up a new Ford Fiesta as my next car. I can’t figure it out either. I think its a byproduct of living in Europe for a few years. But If Saab produces the 9-1, I’ll feel less “inadequate” about picking up a small car. It is downright gorgeous isn’t it? I want one. Follow the link for more pictures.
