Acting

Acting is a great beast.  I’ve gotten started acting a few years back and got to live like an actor for a few years.. What does that mean you ask??  It means taking acting classes, driving all around Burbank and Hollywoodland trying to get gigs, headshots, dreaming, waiting for callbacks (which sucks), rejection,  many Auditions and Not So Many gigs, more acting classes, stage, more rejection.  That’s pretty much it. And then working a low paying job on the side… and not wanting to do anything else.  I was a happy man and amongst the great times in my life.

I first decided to get into acting because of a couple of plays I was in when I was young.  I had the lines, and got known by many because of those roles.  It was amazingly fun… Then after a bout of puberty, and a stint in the Air Force.. Years later, I was so enamored by a TV show I decided to try my hand at acting again.  The show was called “The Unit”.  It is/was a great show and had a style that I found supremely appealing.  My role model was the Actor Denis Haysbert.  You may recognize him as the guy who does the commercials for Allstate Insurance.  The funniest thing was my first gig, was the unit.  I was brought on by a great company called Combat Casting and was there man!  I even got to meet the guy who got me into acting.  Yep.  Dennis Haysbert.  He won’t remember me but I will never forget that moment.  And I got to work with him… for about 40 minutes that got edited down to mere seconds..  Goal Complete.

Other movies I worked on were An American Carol by the Zucker Brothers; Race to Witch Mountain, a Disney Movie with the Rock; A Spike TV Pilot where  I played a Navy Seal.  It was good times on the set.  It was filmed with a few Seals from Coronado and we were more of trained talent or technical advisers.  Room clearing and such.. We filmed on a Navy ship in San Pedro (Lane Victory) and a Green Screen soundstage in Burbank.  I was a Hitman in another Independent Film..  hmmm What’s up with that one?  I found some cell phone footage from it.  Check it out:

But that’s how the game goes.  Unfortunately for me, I was doing it around the time the Writers Strike began..  Nice!  But Still, the dream is to become a full time actor someday.  I’ve moved from Los Angeles to follow work, but that’s life.  I will go back with more confidence, life-experience (age), credits, and I’ll be ready to slay!  Lately, I’m getting into Videography, film production, and editing.  I’ve always been writing so I won’t say goodbye to film acting, but see you later.

I love this commercial.
